Made by hand.

Every NOT TOYS sculpture is made to order, by hand, in our Cairo workshop. These are the real steps, from the raw cast to the box at your door.

  1. A hand cuts the engraved NOT TOYS mark into a raw cast with a fine rotary tool
    01Step

    The mark.

    On the raw cast, the seam is trimmed and the engraved NOT TOYS mark is cut crisp by hand with a fine rotary tool.

  2. A flat blade smooths putty along the joint of a leg and the body
    02Step

    Fill.

    Every joint is filled with putty and shaped smooth with a flat blade, so body, arms and legs read as one form.

  3. Two hands check the arm joint of a piece in grey primer
    03Step

    Prime.

    A grey primer goes on, and each joint is checked by eye and by hand.

  4. A long sanding board smooths the grey primer on a large piece
    04Step

    Sand.

    The primer is sanded smooth by hand with a long sanding board, ready for colour.

  5. A foam pad on a polishing machine brings up the gloss on a deep red piece
    05Step

    Polish.

    Once the colour is on, the gloss is brought up with a soft foam pad on a polishing machine.

  6. A soft white cloth wipes the last shine onto a glossy piece
    06Step

    Shine.

    The last shine is wiped in by hand with a soft cloth.

07The box

The box.

Your piece arrives in its black wooden NOT TOYS box.

Unboxing.

Lift the lid and the velvet cover: your piece lies in a padded black velvet bed. Delivered free, by our own team.
